With so many Israelis coming to Japan and our TOL events these days haven’t you ever thought about how wonderful it would be if you could speak to them even a little bit in their own language? Maybe you’ve also recited liturgy or prayers in Hebrew but wished you could better understand the words you were chanting? Or do you want to be prepared for your next visit to Israel?
Modern Hebrew language courses will resume from November at TOL Language & Creative Arts Studio! The courses will be taught by local Israeli resident Oren-sensei. Who is tri-lingually fluent in Hebrew, Japanese and English and will be able to teach Hebrew in either English or Japanese instruction (he will not switch back and forth between Japanese and English in the same lesson so you will need to choose the track at enrollment time). Most classes will be in-person but online learning by Zoom is also an option on Wednesdays and possibly other days if there are enough students to form a class. [REGISTER HERE]
We will offer both beginner and intermediate level classes.
- The Beginner level course does not require any pre-experience.
- The Intermediate level course will be for students who have already taken at least one year of Modern Hebrew before and can already read and write Hebrew and handle simple conversations.
- Twice a week (50 min x 2) or once a week (80 min x 1) classes are possible.
- The semester will be from Nov 3 – Jan 23 (15-week course)

- 16:30 (English) or 18:00 (Japanese)
- 5,500 yen per week / 82,500 yen full course
Beginner (level alef 2) 80 minute 1x per week (Wednesday – by ZOOM only)
- 18:00 (Japanese) or 20:00 (English)
- 5,500 yen per week / 82,500 yen full course
Intermediate (level bet 1) 80 minute 1x per week (Thursday)
- 18:30 – 19:50 (instruction mostly in Hebrew)
- 5,500 yen per week / 82,500 yen full course
Intermediate (level bet 1) 80 minute 1x per week (Sunday)
- 18:30 – 19:50 (instruction mostly in Hebrew)
- 5,500 yen per week / 82,500 yen full course
- if you miss a class, the recording will be made available to you but there will not be a make-up class scheduled unless a class is cancelled due to teacher illness or absence.
- classes will be available in person at the Tree of Life Language and Creative Arts Studio or on Zoom (but not in combination. You must choose all in-person or all Zoom)
- classes must have a minimum of 3 students to commence (so please tell your friends!)
- Tax not included in the prices listed above
- tuition due at enrollment but payment plan possible (you must still commit to pay for all 15 weeks)
- workbooks may be added to the curriculum later and will be at the student’s cost but the courses will begin with printouts provided by the school
